Weaving for my Sister....

This one is wool, I am playing with colour at the moment!!

Bamboo multi coloured yarn, a dream to work with and a soft silky finish.

The yarn in this one is Bamboo, alternate black and multi coloured weft and black warps, the black is slightly thicker.

The yarns in this one are Black Welsh and Blue Faced Leicester, both of which are hand spun, a nice thick chunky yarn.

This one is a Rayon Slub Yarn, a like weaving with the multi coloured yarns, really nice finish.

This one is a Chenille yarn that I have used for the first time, on a plain weave, lovely to work with.

Weaving 100% Bamboo Yarn

I am facinated by the different types of yarn, and have been interested in plant fibres.

During my research I discovered this Bamboo Yarn, being eco friendly and lots of other qualities.

I decided to buy some, and it is a really exciting yarn to weave. It feels silky, heavier than wool and a dream to weave with.

It has a slight stretch to it, and found that the sides of my weaving is a lot straighter. I really like the effect of the multi colour.

The weave looks beautiful, and I am going to use this more..

Weaving with 100% Jacobs Wool

I am still practising and wanted to try different types of yarn, so I tried this 100% Jacobs Wool.

It is a much finer yarn that I have been using, and I am now feeling more confident and finding weaving very theraputic and enjoyable.

Using finer yarn gives a totally different weave, a much more open weave. I hope that you like it!!

Weaving on a Ashford Rigid Heddle Loom

Hello and welcome to my blog.

My blog will be all about weaving on my Ashford rigid heddle loom that I purchased about a month ago.

I have always been interested in various crafts over the years, watercolour painting, acrylic painting on canvas to name a few.

My first picture above shows my loom, at the moment I am weaving some table mats using cotton thread and producing a fine weave.
